Step 1: Photo Review by the Artist (Day 1-2)
When you place your order and upload 2-3 photos, they go directly to our lead artist in Jingdezhen. The artist studies every detail: fur color and pattern, eye shape and color, ear position, nose shape, any distinctive markings. They note which photo shows the best lighting and angle. If any photo is unclear, we email you to request a better one before proceeding.
Step 2: Design Preview (Day 3-5)
The artist creates a digital design preview showing how your pet portrait will look on the urn. This preview shows the color palette, the portrait composition, and any text or details you requested (name, dates, message). You receive this preview by email. This is your chance to make changes. Want the eyes a bit brighter? The fur a shade darker? We revise the preview until you say it is perfect. There is no limit on revisions, and there is no rush.
Step 3: Hand-Painting Begins (Day 6-14)
With your approval, the artist begins the actual painting on the bisque-fired ceramic urn. This is where the magic happens. Using fine brushes and custom-mixed pigments, the artist renders your pet portrait directly onto the ceramic surface. Every stroke is deliberate. Every color is matched by eye. This stage takes 7-10 days depending on the complexity of the portrait.
Step 4: Glazing and Kiln Firing (Day 15-18)
Once the painting is complete, the urn is coated with a clear protective glaze and placed into the kiln. It is fired at 1250 degrees Celsius. At this temperature, the glaze melts into a glass-like coating and the pigments fuse permanently. Colors will not fade. The surface will not scratch. Step 5: Quality Inspection (Day 19)
